“I
stepped into the elevator in my apartment...with my mask in place .....I still
could smell the perfume from the lady who was in the elevator with me... Poison
and I hadn’t smelled it in [years].... reminded me of a flatmate whose dad
worked in the Airlines and she was the one who had all the fancy perfume
brands....
Do
you have memories from a smell?
Memories
sneak up on us in different ways:
-
Smell wafting from the kitchen reminding you of your childhood? I remember my
mom and her cooking from the smell of ghee wafting from the kitchen...
-
Jasmine reminding me of my grandma's place and childhood...
How does smell revive long forgotten memories? I guess very much like how a song evokes strong emotions...hidden in the crevices of the daily mundane...
This song reminds me of ...our childhood....the few cassette tapes that my dad had...my mom would play "Carpenters" as we did our Sunday chores.........
"When they get to the part Where he's breakin' her heart It
can really make me cry Just like before It's yesterday once more. Lookin' back
on how it was In years gone by And the good times that I had Makes today seem
rather sad So much has changed"...
...Or has it?
